A post on the forum from Sarah Openshaw: A few of us Westberries (and our kids!) are involved with a charity called Sense, which has a family support centre in Kingswood. Sense is a national charity that supports children and adults who are deafblind, and also people who have sensory impairments with additional disabilities.
Sense’s Woodside Centre in Kingswood is literally a lifeline for many families but sadly it was attacked by arsonists a few weeks back, the result of which was £25,000 damage: [www.youtube.com]
We felt we’d like to do something to support the staff, volunteers and families at the Woodside Centre and thought the ideal thing would be to arrange a charity mixed hockey match.
Coombe Dingle has very kindly agreed to give us a free pitch from 11am on Sunday 20th November and it would be great if we could get two mixed teams together. We're also hoping that some of the parents of the kids who use the Centre will also join us to have a go at playing! |
| The match ended 0-0 and a penalty stroke competition saw Pete Murphy save 6 penalty strokes to Jon Jarvis's 4. However, JJ did save Becky's penalty stroke! Was that a wise decision on reflection? Initial punishment was meted out instantly....will there be more to follow? |
